Director's Biography

Sai Kong Kham was born in 1985 and has long been interested in the arts, including film, music and photography. He began working as a sound engineer at various radio stations in Myanmar but in 2011 he decided to pursue a career in filmmaking and enrolled at Yangon Film School. His debut documentary, Sweetie Pie, went on to screen at a number of international film festivals including Visions du réel in Nyon, Switzerland, and the Sehsüchte student film festival in Potsdam, Germany. Sai Kong Kham has since founded his own film production company Tagu Films with fellow YFS alumnus Khin Maung Kyaw, and is a regular creator of documentaries and shorts, several of which have won awards. He also shares his filmmaking skills with his peers, either at YFS as part of the School’s train-to-teach programme, or at Tagu Films’ own workshops including in Shan State.
