Lin Hnin Aye

Biography of the director

Lin Hnin Aye (born in 1991) initially received training in journalism at Myanmar’s National Management College and worked as a part time video journalist before discovering her passion for documentary and joining Yangon Film School in 2012. She has since contributed to a number of YFS productions such as My Grandfather’s House (sound) and Wathann Film Festival award-winning short Missing (camera assistant). Having trained in participatory video during a YFS course in 2014, she is now a regular member of YFS Travelling Cinema crews facilitating workshops in communities in Kachin and Shan. Edited during the 2015 Advanced Editing Course, her documentary portrait of The Washu Family marks her first film as a director in her own right.
